| A hole is then punched and a mandrel is placed through the pre-form allowing the ring to be opened out which is known as ‘Becking out’. The width is maintained by forging under flat dies intermittently with the ‘Becking’ process. Subsequent re-heating of the metal may be required until the final dimensions and shape are achieved. |
